Security Features

Copy Prevention Stripe - a holographic stripe: the figure “5” glinting in more effect and changing colour and images of a boy's head and a stylized frower alternating when the viewing angle is changed. A holographic stripe demetalized along the edge with a minitext “B'LGARSKA NARODNA BANKA 5” (Bulgarian National Bank 5).

Security Thread - a metalized stripe woven into the paoer glinting in more effect seen in changing colours of the figure “5” when the viewing ange is changed with a minitext “BNB 5", partially showing throgh one of the reverse side of the banknote; along with a special polarization effect.

Watermark - a half-tone outline of the portrait depicted on the banknote and electrotype "BNB".

Fluorescence - under UV light at a wavelength of 365 nm: the fibres embedded in the paper glow blue, green and red; on the obverse eide of the banknote, the stripe with the recurring figures “5” and the series numbers in the area on the right of the holographic stripe glow green; the area on the right of the portrait glows red; on the reverse side, the images of the woman with a child and the women reaper glow green.

On the reverse of the banknote an image of a boy's head glows red at a wavelenght of 365 nm and green at a wavelenght of 254 nm.

See-through register - as the banknote is held against the light, the figure “5” appears within the rectangular chequered field.

Microprint on the obverse - horizontal lines text “IVAN MILEV" in the background on the left of the portrait; in two vertical lines on the right of the portrait the words “IVAN MILEV" and “5 LEV?” (5 LEVS) filling the figure “5”.

Microprint on the reverse - lines with “IVAN MILEV" and “1897 1927” forming a stripe in the left part of the background net, as well as filling the sleeve of a woman reaper and the figure “5" in the field under it.

Hidden image - at a viewing angle 15 - 20 degrees, the words “5 LEV?” (5 LEVS) appear on the right of the holographic stripe.

Raised Print - the portrait of Ivan Milev; the words “B'LGARSKA NARODNA BANKA” (BULGARIAN NATIONAL BANK) and “PET LEV?” (FIVE LEVS), the figure “5”, the vignette, the vignette and the words “5 LEV?” (5 LEVS) appearing on the holographic stripe.

Visually impaired aid - a raised image of two identical triangles with an apex pointing up, situated vertically.
