Front: Crocodile. National emblem and flag of Burundi. Arabica coffee plant (Coffea arabica). Back: Outline of Burundi with a photo of men in a boat on Lake Tanganyika. Watermark: Portrait of the Prince Louis Rwagasore; Electrotype "BRB" in a vertical fashion. Main colour: Orange. Security features: Consecutively running black and red horizontal serial numbers on the obverse of the banknote. Invisible security fibers (hairs), extremely sparsely distributed, barely present, the security thread, the invisible denomination "500 BRB" that fluoresce while being exposed to an ultraviolet light.
