Obverse: Catherine Flon Arcahaie, the goddaughter of Jean-Jacques Dessalines, sewing the first Haitian flag on the 18th of May 1803. Letters "BRH" as registration device on both sides. Reverse: Coat of arms of Haiti (canons, flags, drum, anchor, soufflets, trumpet, sailing ship, palm tree with with Phrygian cap). Watermark: Top of palm tree with Phrygian cap from Haitian coat of arms. Predominant colours: Green and blue. Signatures: Fritz Alphonse Jean (Le Gouverneur, 1998-2001); Roland Pierre (Le Gouverneur Adjoint, 1998-2001); Henri Cassion (Le Directeur Général, 1998-2001). Design by: Unknown.
