Front: Effigy bust of Samuel Sharpe (1804 - 1831), a National Hero of Jamaica. Morning Glory "Heavenly Blue" (Ipomoea) flowers. Coat of arms. Back: Doctor's Cave Beach, Montego Bay. Watermark: Swallow-tailed hummingbird (Eupetomena macroura); Flower blossom. Security features: Two parrots and a $50 denomination block fluorescing under ultraviolet light. Segmented vertical 2mm wide metallic security thread fluorescing in yellow on its obverse side. Watermarked paper. Consecutively running serial numbers. Predominant colours: Red-violet, brown, purple, green and blue. Signature: Derick Milton Latibeaudiere (Governor between 1 April 1996 and 30 October 2009). Artist & Engraver: TDLR staff.
