Artists impression of the newly constructed bridge
at Manampitiya, alongside the old bridges common to both vehicles and trains. Train crossing an ancient railway arch bridge. Nymphalid butterfly, the Blue Oakleaf (Kallima philarchus). Sri Lanka Dull-blue Flycatcher (Eumyias sordida). The Sri Lanka Lion or Ceylon Lion (Panthera leo sinhaleyus) bearing a sword. Reverse: Guard stone with a Punkalasa (Pot of plenty), a symbol of prosperity. Vadiga Patuna dancer who belongs to the Low Country-dance form and a Yakbera drummer. Liya Vela, a stylised floral motif, appears along the right side of the note. Watermark: Dull-blue Flycatcher, "50" and reinforced cornerstones. Predominant colour: Blue. Signatures: Mahinda Rajapaksa (His Excellency the President and Minister of Finance); Mr. Ajith Nivard Cabraal (Governor of the Central Bank). Date of Issue: 1 January 2010.
