Artists impression of the newly constructed Ramboda
Tunnel with the rock wall depicted at the same location before construction. Butterfly, White Four Ring (Ypthima ceylonica). The Sri Lanka Hanging Parrot (Loriculus beryllinus). The Sri Lanka Lion or Ceylon Lion (Panthera leo sinhaleyus) bearing a sword. Reverse: Naga Raja carved guard stone with guardian deities at the entrance of a monastic building, Abhayagiri Monastery, Anuradhapura, ca. 1895. Malpadaya Netuma dancer and a Davul Bera drummer. Dvithva Liya Vela, a stylized floral motif, appears along the right side of the note. Watermark: Sri Lanka Hanging Parrot, "1000" and reinforced cornerstones. Predominant colour: Green. Signatures: Mahinda Rajapaksa (His Excellency the President and Minister of Finance); Mr. Ajith Nivard Cabraal (Governor of the Central Bank). Date of Issue: 1 January 2010.
