Front: Temple of the Tooth, Kandy. It is also known as Sri Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Completed in 1595. Back: Buddhist Dagoba Raja Maha Vihare, Kelaniya. Watermark: Chinthe ("Chinze") lion. Security features: Watermark. Running black horizontal duplicate serial numbers on the obverse of the banknote that somehow fluoresce yellow under ultraviolet light. Also chinthe lion holding a sword and the "10" denomination fluoresce while exposed to the UV light. Predominant colour: Olive-green. Artist: Unknown. Engraver: No info. Signatures: Ronnie de Mel (Minister of Finance, 23 July 1977 - 18 January 1988); Warnasena Rasaputra (Governor, CBC, 15 February 1979 - 18 November 1988. Appointed by J. R. Jayewardene). Security thread: Solid, 0.5 mm thin, embedded. Printing method: Intaglio. Issuer: Central Bank of Ceylon. Date of Issue: 1 January 1982. Total issue: N/a. Withdrawn from circulation: 1987.
