Front: Portrait of Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis (1875-1911), Lithuanian painter, composer and writer. National symbol of Lithuania - Vytis (Knight on horseback). Lintels made up of flowers. Back: "Fairy Tale of Kings" ("Karaliu Pasaka"), painting by M.K. Ciurlionis, created in 1909. Watermark: Vytis, the knight on horseback; Columns of Gediminas. Security features: Consecutively running horizontal and vertical black serial numbers on the front of the banknote. Paper with watermark. Denomination "1000" in the center of the obverse fluoresce under ultraviolet light. Predominant colour: Greyish blue. Artist: Rytis Valantinas. Signature: Vilius Baldiis (Chairman of the Board, 1990-1992). Printing method: Intaglio. Issuer: Bank of Lithuania. Date of issue: 1991.
