Remark: Azâwân is the music of the iggawins or iggawen (griots in Berber Moor) of Mauritania, historians, poets, musicians and masters of speech, only qualified to play music in traditional society in Mauritania. It is a learned Berber music with coded formulas, very precise modes and which sometimes evolves towards "esotericism". The songs are accompanied by the instruments depicted above and also by a tbal kettledrum, made from a hollowed-out piece of wood, which can reach one metre in diameter. |
Texts: Banque Centrale de Mauritanie. Cinquante Ouguiya. Fifty Ouguiya. Les auteurs ou complices de falsification ou de contrefacon de billets de banque seront punis conformement aux lois et actes en vigueur. BCM. |
