Front: Opera House in Damascus, Dar al-Assad for Culture and Arts. Back: "Mosaic of the Musicians" from a Byzantine villa in Maryamin. The clay tablet depicts the Hurrian songs, the oldest surviving substantially complete work of notated music, found in Ugarit. Lintels with ornamental designs. Watermark: Coat of arms; Electrotype '500'. Security features: Embossed intaglio lintel as HMC (Hidden Multi Coloured image) with Arabic '500' denomination. Running black horizontal and vertical serial numbers on the obverse of the banknote. Solid, holographic, vertical, windowed on the obverse, almost 5 mm wide security thread, bearing demetalized 'SP 500' in Eastern and Western Arabic numerals. The coloured filament fibers (hairs), the security stripe, the '500' denomination numerals and parts of the frontal design fluoresce under ultraviolet light. Registration device in a form of an octagonal mosaic. Microperforation. Tactile feature: Series of sloping intaglio lines on both left and right edges of the banknote. Main colour: Light blue.
