Front: Emblem logo of the Bank of Ireland depicting seated Lady Hibernia figure, surrounded by the Latin motto of the Bank, Bona Fides Reipublicae Stabilitas ("Good Faith is the Cornerstone of the State"). Heraldic shields each representing one of the six counties of Northern Ireland: Co. Tyrone, Co. Antrim, Co. Down, Co. Londonderry, Co. Armagh and Co. Fermanagh. Holographic foil strip featuring the Bank of Ireland logo above an image of a face of Mercury surrounded by a flower motif in the background. Back: Vignette of the Old Bushmills Distillery in Bushmills, County Antrim, Northern Ireland (currently owned by Casa Cuervo of Mexico). Theme: Ireland. Shadow image: None. Security features: Consecutively running green vertical and black horizontal serial numbers on the front of the banknote. Holographic foil strip. Microprint along the outside edge of the Latin motto surrounding the Lady Hibernia reading BANK OF IRELAND TWENTY POUNDS 20. Segmented, simulated security thread runs vertically from top to bottom which incorporates the number 20. Denomination "20", the vertical serial number and some parts of the design fluoresce while being exposed to ultraviolet light. Tactile feature: There are three arrangements of four dots in square formation in the bottom left corner to enable physical identification of the note for the visually impaired.
