Front: Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe logo with Chiremba Balancing Rocks in Epworth near Harare in it. Ornamental guilloche pattern, lathework. Back: Guilloche pattern. Watermark: Zimbabwe Bird; Electrotype denomination "500" (error, one zero too much) positioned vertically. Security features: Watermark. Consecutively running black horizontal serial number positioned on the lower right corner of the obverse of the banknote. Vertical, latent (solid), embedded, 1 mm wide metallic security thread with demetalized "RBZ 500" erroneously repeated on it. Blue and red filament fibers (hairs) fluoresce while exposed to an ultraviolet light. Main colour: Black. Signature: Dr. Gideon Gono (Governor; Nov. 2003 - Nov. 2013). Artist: Unknown.
