The theme of the new Malaysian Ringgit banknote series, "Wawasan 2020" reflects Malaysia's economic development and achievement towards a fully developed country. Depicted on both sides of the banknote is a five-petaled Bunga raya (Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis), which has been Malaysia’s national flower since 1960.
